Australian breast cancer support groups have welcomed a decision to approve the drug palbociclib but warn it is only a “half win” because women will still have to pay thousands of dollars a month to get it.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration has approved the drug for sale but the Federal Government’s medicines funding arm has not recommended it for funding on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
