PHARMAC takes three years to review brand-new cancer drugs and Kiwis are missing out

7 August 2018 - Kiwis are missing out on the latest cancer treatments because the government's drug agency, PHARMAC, is failing to keep up with the latest developments, an Australian oncologist says.

Professor John Zalcberg​ - an oncologist and cancer professor at Melbourne's Monash university - told Checkpoint with John Campbell that New Zealand was falling well behind Australia with its treatments.

He said oncologists from around the country were increasingly despondent about the PHARMAC-funded drugs they were able to provide patients.
