26 April 2019 - A decision to not fully fund one of the most effective contraceptive devices in the world is "embarrassing" and discriminatory, an Auckland GP says.
Orna McGinn launched a petition on April 12 seeking funding the interuterine system Mirena "for all women who request it".
Mirena, regarded as one of the most effective contraception devices in the world, is only funded in New Zealand for women who are iron deficient or anaemic.
