New Zealand's access to funded medicines 'well behind the rest of the world'
12 August 2019 - New Zealand has the worst access to funded modern medicines of 20 OECD countries, a report has found.
The International Comparisons of Modern Medicines report, commissioned by Medicines New Zealand, ranked New Zealand last for both access to funded medicines and pharmaceutical investment overall.
The newly-released report showed of 304 modern medicines funded internationally between 2011-17, only 17 were funded in New Zealand.
