New independent chair wants improved equitable access to breakthrough medicines
1 February 2018 - Former clinical leader, Dr. Lee Mathias, has been appointed as new chair for Medicines New Zealand the industry association for the biopharmaceutical presence in New Zealand.
Dr. Mathias joins the association with a wealth of knowledge of the New Zealand healthcare system and brings with her a range of experience both chairing and directing public and private health sector enterprises.
“Medicines have a unique role in New Zealand’s healthcare services especially in the area of complex and chronic treatments. Having a strong operational background in the health system I believe that modern medicines can provide not only opportunities for both improved health outcomes for patients, but some real economic efficiencies too.”
