16 October 2019 - Family Planning says demand for the newly funded Mirena and Jaydess contraceptives is so high, the organisation is already booking appointments in 2020 - a mere two days after PHARMAC's announcement.
Family Planning has been supportive of the decision to fund the two IUDs (intrauterine devices), calling it a "win for women".
However, chief executive Jackie Edmond says Family Planning was always aware it would face considerable pressure to have enough available appointments to meet the demand.
