6 December 2020 - The top U.S. health official said the federal government could authorise Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine within days after a FDA committee meets Thursday.
The FDA has scheduled a meeting of the advisory committee of medical experts to consider the COVID-19 vaccine Pfizer developed with German partner BioNTech.
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said Sunday he has “not heard of any red flags” in considering the vaccine but would defer to career scientists to determine if the vaccine was safe and effective.
