Governments health reforms mean health fund members lose benefits

20 February 2019 - More than 50,000 members of Australia’s largest health fund Bupa will lose cover for key joint replacements from July forcing them to pay higher premiums for less cover.

It comes as four per cent of Medibank members are learning their health fund premiums are rising by up to seven per cent from April 1, almost twice the average 3.25% increase trumpeted by the government as the lowest hike in 18 years.

Bupa’s premium rises range between 0 and 4.5%.
