Cost of prescription drugs increases by £6.7m in Scotland
17 December 2013 - The cost of prescribing drugs in Scotland has increased by £6.7 million in a year. Payments to pharmacists, doctors and other suppliers rose from £558.4 million in the first six months of 2012-13 to £565.1 million during the same period in 2013-14, official statistics show. At the same time, the number of prescriptions dispensed increased by one million to 49.2 million. A similar increase was recorded in the previous year.
