Brisbane sees 30% drop in HIV infection over 5 year period; HIV medicine Truvada still not on PBS

23 August 2016 - The combination HIV medicines that has led to a significant drop in the number of HIV cases in Brisbane will not be included on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Queensland advocates believe that this omission is a big mistake. As per reports, Brisbane HIV infections have fallen 30% in five years and this achievement is significant.

HIV Foundation Queensland is very disappointed with this decision and is calling it a massive setback to end Australian Government’s goal of ending HIV in Australia by 2020.
