Aussies to be denied repeat prescriptions for common antibiotics

8 October 2019 - Health Minister Greg Hunt has welcomed a move that would abolish repeat prescriptions for a range of common antibiotics in an attempt to quash superbugs.

Aussies would no longer be able to get repeat prescriptions for antibiotics if a medical recommendation is adopted.

The PBAC, which advises the federal government, is pushing to kill off a repeat option for a number of frequently used antibiotics, where no where no repeats are deemed therapeutically necessary.
