15 December 2017 - Value Assessment? Yes, But How?
As we continue to see dramatic increases in health care spending, consensus likewise continues to grow that we need to realign the US health system to reward value, instead of volume. Numerous proposals and experimental programs have been put forward, including value-based pricing, pay-for-performance structures for providers, and outcomes-based contracts for drugs.
However, the fundamental question is how we quantify value and identify which medical technology provides the most value for whom.
